Brooklyn Park Police Chief Calls Gun Violence 'Historic and Unacceptable'
Over the last year, elected officials like Governor Walz have sown doubt within our communities about the abilities of our law enforcement officers. By placating the far-left with bad progressive policies that limit police funding and place blame on the institution of policing, criminal activity has become a leading issue in Minnesota.
Now as crime plagues our streets and gun violence in the Twin Cities is at a record high, our police officers are met with resistance at the scene of a crime. When members of the community refuse to provide officers with information related to the incident at hand, particularly when it comes to shooting victims, it becomes almost impossible to “hold individuals accountable for their actions.”
But 60 homicides in Minneapolis and 18 in St. Paul throughout the first half of 2021 is a disturbing statistic that should alert Minnesotans. Several victims were innocent children caught in the crossfire. We depend on our elected officials to uphold public safety and ensure that our children are free to play outside without risking their lives in random gunfire.
After Governor Walz inflicted doubt within our law enforcement agencies and their ability to perform community policing, he has proven that he is no longer fit for office. His decisions to appease radical progressives have now caused innocent families irreparable damage. It is time for Minnesotans to elect a leader who values the dedication that police officers bring to the communities they serve and who promotes a society where the community and law enforcement can work together to solve crime. We need to change the fact that our children can no longer depend on our Governor to provide them with a safe childhood.
