63% of Minnesota Parents Considering Taking Children out of Public Schools

Interestingly enough, the same man who promoted his career as an educator in order to get elected to political office is also the same individual whose educational policies have led to 63% of parents considering taking their kids out of Minnesota public schools. The Star Tribune recently reported that the city of Duluth has seen a 6% decrease in student enrollment since the 2019/2020 school year. With public school enrollment on the decline, it indicates why Governor Walz has been touting public schools throughout the state under the guise of education ‘per-pupil’ spending.

Due to many of the controversial policies that have come about under his leadership, trying to encourage enrollment in Minnesota’s public schools may be more difficult than Governor Walz believes. Parents have grown discouraged by the Governor’s handling of the state during the height of the pandemic, his hindrance of the education of children, and now the controversial material being introduced in school curricula.

According to Let them Learn MN, another determining factor for parents is the practice of teaching critical race theory in classrooms to students as young as in middle school. Under Governor Walz’s administration, doctrines have been adopted to appeal to the ‘woke’ culture currently pervading America.

With so many parents frustrated by the Governors overreach and numerous failed education policies, many are in favor of private school options. As Governor Walz’s inability to lead in classrooms causes his popularity to decline, it should come as no surprise that a group like Let Them Learn MN, may lead the charge and rally behind a voice that understands both the needs of children and frustrations of parents.
